Thousands of books, collected over years, and the only record of them is in your head. It does not have to stay that way.

TitleEntry catalogues private book collections without the typing. Photograph a shelf and the AI reads every spine; scan a barcode or photograph a title page for the rest. Each book gets its full record, your own notes and its place on the shelf, in a catalogue you can search from your phone.

Collections are mixed: paperbacks from last year beside hardbacks from the last century. Use whichever way suits the book in front of you; they all go into one catalogue.
For newer books. Point the phone at the ISBN on the back, or use a USB scanner at a desk, and the full record fills in.
For whole shelves. The AI reads every spine in the photo, so a bookcase is catalogued without taking a book down. Up to 20 photos at a time.
For old books with no barcode and a faded spine. Photograph the title page and its back; the photo is kept with the book.
For the odd book in between. Type the title, pick the right edition from the results, and add it.
A list of titles is a start. A collection deserves a little more:
At a book fair or in a second-hand shop, open TitleEntry in your phone’s browser and search by title or author. No more coming home with a second copy of a book you already own.
Move books between rooms and shelves, rename or merge shelves, and filter by genre, language or shelf. Export the whole catalogue to Excel, with cover images if you like, whenever you want a copy of your own.
Books from before barcodes, read from the spine or the title page.
A dated record of what you own, its condition and what you paid.
Find out what is there before deciding what to keep, give or sell.
A family bookshelf rather than a collection? See the home library catalogue. How the AI reads a shelf: the AI bookshelf scanner.
TitleEntry is a catalogue of what you own, made quickly and kept accurate: every book with its edition, its shelf, its condition and your notes. See our guide to book cataloguing software for the other kinds of tool.
Work shelf by shelf. Photograph each shelf so the AI reads the spines, scan barcodes where the spines are unreadable, and photograph title pages for the oldest books. Name each shelf or room before you save, and check each review list as you go rather than at the end.
Yes. A shelf photo reads the title and author from the spine, and a title page photo reads the page. Neither needs a barcode, and books no database knows are saved with what was read.
Yes. Import a CSV or Excel file with columns such as ISBN, title and author. Books with an ISBN are looked up for the rest of their details, and a template shows the columns TitleEntry reads.
Yes. TitleEntry runs in the phone browser, so you can search your catalogue by title or author in a bookshop. When you scan a book you already have, it is flagged as a duplicate.
Take your TitleEntry list, with each book’s edition, condition and what you paid, to a specialist bookseller or an appraiser. They give the valuation; the list saves them the cataloguing.
