About TitleEntry

TitleEntry makes book cataloguing simple. Scan the books in a physical collection by barcode or with the AI shelf scanner, and TitleEntry keeps the whole catalogue for you to search, organise and manage.

Why we built it

Cataloguing a physical book collection was still a surprisingly slow, manual process.

The standard approach is to scan each book one at a time with a barcode gun - standing in front of every spine, one beep at a time. For a 500-book shelf that is hours of work. For a school library doing annual inventory, it can take the better part of a week.

The alternative was enterprise library management software. Powerful systems, but built for institutions with IT departments and five-figure budgets. Not the right tool for a bookstore trying to get their stock online, or a school library that just needs an accurate list of what is on the shelves.

The gap between those two options is where TitleEntry came from. The technology to photograph a shelf and identify every book from a single image exists and works. The need for a clean, exportable catalogue is universal. We built the tool that connects the two.

Built directly with a bookstore in Turkey that processes a high volume of stock every day.

The first version came out of working directly with a real bookstore customer who needed to process high volumes of incoming stock without manual data entry. That relationship shaped the product - the barcode workflow, the shelf scanning, the export format, the editing tools. Everything was built against a real problem, not a theoretical one.

What TitleEntry does

Two ways to add books to your catalogue:

  • ISBN barcode scanning - point your phone camera at any book's barcode. The cover loads and every detail fills in automatically - title, author, publisher, year, genre. No typing.
  • AI shelf scanning - photograph an entire shelf at once. TitleEntry reads every visible spine and identifies each book from the text printed on it. Works on old books, foreign-language books, and anything published before barcodes existed. Up to 300 books per photo.

If a book cannot be found either way, add it manually. Nothing gets left out.

When you are done, download the complete catalogue as an Excel or CSV file in one click.

What TitleEntry does not do

TitleEntry is a cataloguing and export tool. It is not a full library management system.

It does not handle circulation, overdue tracking, patron accounts, or OPAC access. If you need all of that, Follett Destiny and similar systems exist for a reason.

What TitleEntry does - getting an accurate, complete, exportable catalogue from a physical book collection - it does fast. If that is the job, TitleEntry is the right tool for it. If you already use a library management system and need to update its catalogue, TitleEntry's export gives you the import file.
